Gynecomastia almost ruined my life. I had bigger breasts than my dates. I contemplated surgery and even buying a man bra. I was never at such a low point in my life. However, I decided to take control of my condition and get my life back.
I did not always have man boobs. I remembered a time I was breast-less! After some research I found out that man boobs or gynecomastia is caused by an imbalance of estrogen and testosterone in the body. Too much fatty tissue in the pectoral area of the body then forms and you develop breasts much like mom. I also learned that man breasts could be corrected without surgery through a proper diet and exercise specifically chest weight training.
This is how I got rid of my man boobs.
A proper diet is needed as a base to combating male breasts. Foods that are low in estrogen such as dairy products and meat should be avoided at all costs. Certain foods that are high in testosterone include broccoli, garlic and beans. Next what helped me greatly was burning overall body fat, which helped reduce my breast size. These two things helped me greatly, however the cherry on top was proper chest weight training incorporated into my routine. Weight training itself can not make your breasts shrink; it will however develop the underlying chest muscle and add more shape to your upper body.
Here are a few exercises to help you start chest weight training.
Push Ups – These help your chest muscles to become tighter. Your arms will also be worked on at the same time.
Bench Press – When you do the flat bench press using a barbell, dumbbells or machine you are targeting the entire chest muscle. A strong chest will assist in other exercises.
Chest Flies – This exercise puts stress on the inner part of the chest. The chest fly can done with the fly machine (pec deck) or dumbbells, which allows you to target either the upper inner, middle inner, or lower chest area. This all depends on how you adjust the incline bench.
